Dhammadīpa Ārāma Monastery was established in 1971 and named by His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara from Thailand. Dhammadīpa Ārāma is translated as Dhamma Island Monastery, signifying a place where Dhamma can be a refuge or an island of protection where we can take shelter. Currently, Padepokan Dhammadīpa Ārāma is the largest and most comprehensive monastery in East Java.
